Never Fall Again
While I am really only just getting into my “romantic suspense” phase, “Never Fall Again” is my absolute favorite so far. I enjoyed the unique setting and unusual plot, but most of all, I loved the main characters and watching them fall in love despite their best efforts at resistance. I devoured this book in about two days and cannot wait to experience more of the world of Gossamer Falls in future books of this new series from Lynn H. Blackburn.

Synopsis
(From Goodreads)
Landry Hutton has spent three years rebuilding her life behind the secure gates of The Haven, an exclusive resort on the outskirts of Gossamer Falls, North Carolina. Landry is funny, gifted, and everything Cal could ever want in a partner, but he vows to keep his distance. Landry has a daughter and a past. Cal has been down that road before and barely survived when the woman he loved left, taking her two sons with her. He can’t bear to lose like that again.
Before construction on the house can begin, Landry’s pottery is destroyed in a suspicious fire. It soon becomes clear that Landry and Eliza are in grave danger–but because of whom?
What I Loved
Where do I begin? Cal and Landry are my absolute favorite romantic suspense couple so far. Individually, both are refreshingly different from other fictional characters, with compelling personalities, motivations, and backstories. I really enjoyed getting to read the individual journeys of both characters over the course of the novel – and appreciated their unique jobs and roles within the Gossamer Falls community.. Together, they are a sweet couple that you can’t help but root for – both to solve the issues plaguing the retreat and to end up together. It was heartwarming to read as they fall in love and choose to trust despite the issues of the past.
The rest of the cast of Never Fall Again only adds to the atmosphere of this novel. Landry’s daughter and Cal’s dog are simply adorable, especially when they interact. Other characters create the perfect backdrop for the story and (mostly) support for our two characters. So many are interesting enough to warrant interest in their stories, but don’t come across as being excessively quirky for the sake of being quirky. I also love the original setting of this story, and can’t wait to read more about the residents of Gossamer Falls in future books.
What I Didn’t Love
One tiny critique I have for this book is that the suspense angle of this romantic suspense seemed relatively minor. There was some build-up to the climax on the suspense angle, but in some ways, the suspense and resolution/reveal didn’t feel nearly as developed as the romance storyline. I would have liked to see a little more from this angle, but this is a very minor preference.
I also would have loved to see a little more from the faith angle in this book. It was great to see Cal and Landry pray together toward the end, and more moments like this that focus on the Lord would have been great
